Benvinguts a Barcelona is the sixth episode of the sixth season of Cobra Kai. It is the premiere of Part 2.

Synopsis[]

With the Sekai Taikai underway, a betrayal threatens to throw team Miyagi-Do off their game. A dramatic first event unleashes the element of surprise.

Plot[]

Gunther Braun formally welcomes all the participating dojos to the prestigious Sekai Taikai tournament. He outlines the rules and agenda for the competition, emphasizing that the dojo with the most points at the end will be crowned the winners of the Sekai Taikai. Outside their hotel, tension rises between Daniel and Johnny as they begin to argue, each blaming the other for Tory's decision to return to Kreese. Daniel, frustrated, reminds Johnny that if he misbehaves, their dojo will face the consequences and be kicked out of the hotel. As they continue to discuss the situation, Miyagi-Do settles into their accommodations. Eli and Demetri decide to room with Miguel and Robby, respectively. Meanwhile, Kwon and his group arrive at the hotel and approach Miyagi-Do, seemingly ready to confront them, but Robby steps in to prevent any further escalation. As Kwon and his classmates go their separate way, Robby notices Tory and, feeling compelled, decides to follow her in hopes of talking things through.

Meanwhile, Daniel is on a FaceTime call with his wife, Amanda, who wants to check in on him. He updates her on how their hotel has organized a cocktail mixer, which excites Amanda. Johnny, fresh from a shower, attempts to crack open a beer, only for Daniel to remind him that doing so will likely lead to extra charges. Amanda, amused by their back-and-forth, jokes that Johnny and Daniel's constant arguing has become her new favorite show.

Back at the Sekai Taikai, Tory is busy unpacking her things in her room when Kreese and Kim Da-Eun enter. They tell her to get ready for training, with Da-Eun taking a moment to chastise her for aiding the Miyagi-Fangs in exposing Silver’s wrongdoings. Da-Eun makes it clear that if Tory doesn’t regain her focus, she will be the first to lose in the tournament, a threat meant to motivate her.

Daniel and Johnny discuss the situation further. Johnny admits to having trouble staying in check, and Daniel reminds him to keep his temper under control. While grabbing food at the hotel, Johnny runs into Sensei Wolf. The two immediately clash, their tension palpable, but Daniel steps in to de-escalate the situation just as Kreese watches quietly from a distance.

At the Aquarium Barcelona, all the tournament captains gather for a photo shoot. Zara, while posing for the photos, comments to Tory about how cute she finds the boys, especially Robby. However, Zara quickly realizes they are together and subtly withdraws. Annoyed by the continuous photos, Tory decides to leave, prompting Robby to follow her in an attempt to talk things over.

Daniel attends a meeting with the tournament committee, where he proudly shows off Mr. Miyagi’s old headband as part of his effort to honor his mentor’s legacy. Meanwhile, Johnny, curious about acquiring weapons for the tournament, approaches a vendor but is told only champions are allowed to obtain them due to sponsorship regulations. Kreese arrives and, without missing a beat, proudly shows the vendor his knife, signaling his readiness for whatever may come.

Back at the aquarium, Robby and Tory engage in a private conversation. Robby expresses his respect for her decision to leave Miyagi-Do and offers a heartfelt apology for her mother’s death. Despite his attempts to continue the conversation, Tory abruptly leaves, unwilling to revisit the past. Eli notices Kwon hosting a kicking competition and convinces Miyagi-Do to join in.

At the cocktail mixer, Gunther Braun, still visibly shaken, talks to Daniel about the brutal nature of the tournament. As they converse, Gunther brings up a legendary karate master he knows, offering to introduce Daniel to him. Johnny and Kreese have a tense exchange about reminding themselves of Cobra Kai’s core values, but once again, Daniel steps in to smooth things over. Despite this, Kreese makes a subtle threat, suggesting that if Miyagi-Do fails to perform in the Sekai Taikai, Daniel has a lot to lose. Their argument is cut short when a visibly drunk Chozen enters the scene and orders two Long Island iced teas, lightening the mood.

Robby, eager to prove his worth, enters the kicking contest. Kwon places a wager: if Robby wins, he gets Kwon’s room, but if he loses, Kwon gets Robby’s room. At the aquarium, Devon approaches Tory, comforting her about her decision to return to Cobra Kai. Sam finds Devon and tells her that it's time for them to go back to the hotel, but Tory stops Sam before she leaves, and the two converse about their relationship and Tory's decision to go back to Cobra Kai. The former reminds the latter of the bond they could have had if Tory hadn’t left Miyagi-Do. Sam informs Tory that just because she feels bad for her, doesn't mean she's gonna hold back whenever the two compete against each other in the tournament. Unfortunately, Robby loses the competition, forcing him to hand over his and Demetri's room to Kwon.

Later at the mixer, Chozen admits to Daniel and Johnny that he traveled to Okinawa to meet with Kumiko, but things didn’t go as he had hoped. Chozen reveals that Kumiko is in a relationship, which leads to Chozen’s frustration boiling over. He ends up smashing all the flowers at the mixer, much to Gunther’s displeasure. Gunther promptly kicks Chozen out, ending the incident.

At the hotel, Robby’s classmates remind him that he had known about Kreese’s interactions with Tory, but Robby defends himself, explaining that their conversations happened before her mother’s death. He attempts to get Miguel on his side, but Miguel refuses to take his side, leaving Robby to stew in his frustration.

As the night settles in, the students and senseis settle down to sleep, each person’s habits affecting the others. Eli, in particular, lets out a loud fart, then blames it on Demetri, causing some lighthearted tension in the room. Later, Robby heads to Tory’s room to continue their conversation. Tory tells him that she needs him to focus on the tournament, insisting that they need to pause their relationship. Robby, hurt by her words, lashes out at her for always trusting herself, leaving the room in frustration. Tory, calm but sad, wishes him good luck before he leaves.

On the first day of the tournament, Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai join forces to face off against the Iron Dragons and another dojo in a group fight. Despite their best efforts, only Tory, Kwon, and Yoon remain from Cobra Kai, while all six members of the Iron Dragons stand strong. As the remaining Cobra Kai team members advance toward the Iron Dragons, the match quickly turns in favor of the Iron Dragons. In a series of quick moves, Kwon and Yoon face off against Axel, and Tory goes head-to-head with Zara. Within seconds, both Cobra Kai members are defeated, and the Iron Dragons win the match decisively. As the Iron Dragons leave the mat, it is revealed that Sensei Wolf is their leader. He smirks at Johnny, signaling the looming challenge for Miyagi-Do and the others.
