- "This might be the last time we're fighting together as a team."
- ―Samantha LaRusso
"Blood In Blood Out" is the ninth episode of the sixth season of Cobra Kai.
Synopsis[]
Who will move to the next round in the tournament's tag team elimination match: Miyagi-Do or Cobra Kai? A shocking revelation shatters Daniel's world.
Plot[]
In Bangkok, Sensei Wolf engages in a fierce battle against a skilled opponent, with Terry Silver observing from the sidelines, nursing a drink. Silver’s lawyer arrives with good news: the case against him got dropped, thanks to Stingray’s lack of credibility as a witness. The lawyer advises Silver to stay focused on his goal of taking over the Valley’s dojos, reminding him he’s lucky to still have his yacht despite mounting debts. Meanwhile, Wolf lands a decisive finishing move, impressing Silver. Silver offers him a deal: if Wolf wins the Sekai Taikai, he’ll regain ownership of the Iron Dragons dojo. Silver then reflects on his previous setbacks, determined to avoid another downfall.
In Barcelona, Daniel LaRusso confronts Silver about his kidnapping, reintroducing Dennis, one of Silver’s former thugs from The Karate Kid Part III. Tensions escalate as Kreese arrives, threatening Silver before being distracted by his massage therapists. Kreese makes a sudden move to stab Silver, but Kim Da-Eun intervenes. Afterward, Daniel confides in Chozen, agreeing they need to warn their students about Kreese and Silver’s scheming.
Back at the hotel, Johnny comes back with Miguel and Kenny Payne. When Daniel and Chozen reveal Silver’s return, Johnny is enraged. Daniel explains that the Sekai Taikai committee remains unaware of Silver’s past cheating at the All-Valley, and Silver continues to pursue his promises. Chozen adds that Silver’s acquisition of the Iron Dragons dojo gives him more leverage. Johnny vows to bring Silver down, and he and Daniel reconcile.
Meanwhile, Devon approaches Kenny to apologize once more for spiking his water. Kenny accepts, admitting he admires her, and their friendship begins to rebuild. Demetri observes this and warns Eli and Sam that Kenny might still be loyal to Silver, given his history of deceit.
At the Sekai Taikai, Gunther announces a new format: the captains of the winning dojos will advance to a special tournament of champions. Miyagi-Do faces the fierce local team Furia De Pantera but loses the match. Frustrated, Demetri accuses Kenny of supposedly betraying the team, but Robby diffuses the argument, taking responsibility for past issues. Seeing how hard the event is with Silver present, Johnny and Chozen plan to mess with him after seeing the latter being threatened by Kreese. Miguel offers Robby a pep talk, encouraging him to lead the team back to their full potential. Amid the chaos, Tory exposes Zara for stealing her boyfriend, leading Kim Da-Eun to reprimand Zara and demand she focus on the competition.
In the locker room, Kreese discovers his knife is missing, replaced by a gift card for the spa. He confronts Silver, demanding answers. Gunther interrupts, threatening to suspend Cobra Kai for the disturbance. Kim steps in, pulling Kreese away before the situation escalates. Daniel, Johnny, and Chozen watch from a distance, pleased that their plan to sow discord between Kreese and Silver is working.
The tournament continues, with Cobra Kai losing their next match against Tiger Strike due to Tory’s loss of concentration. Silver approaches Kenny, offering him a place in the Iron Dragons dojo. Kenny hesitates but ultimately rejects Silver, helping Miyagi-Do secure redemption in the tag team round. Kenny’s decision is solidified as he defiantly flicks off Silver. Kim Da-Eun accuses Chozen of stealing Kreese’s knife, but Chozen denies any involvement.
The tournament’s final showdown pits the rivals Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai against each other. Before the match, the Miyagi-Do team shares a heartfelt moment. Robby encourages them to believe they can defeat Cobra Kai again, while Sam reminds everyone this might be their last fight together. Miguel reassures his teammates that they’ll always be a family, regardless of the outcome.
The match is intense, with both teams tied. The decisive bout between Robby and Kwon becomes a spectacle of skill and determination. Despite Kwon’s impressive moves, Robby prevails, securing the victory for Miyagi-Do and eliminating Cobra Kai from the competition.
Afterward, Silver confronts Daniel, handing him an envelope containing records from a previous Sekai Taikai, revealing a dark secret: Mr. Miyagi once killed his opponent, Claramunt.
Back in the locker room, Kreese finds his knife has been returned. Holding it, he mutters to himself, “This isn't over until I say it’s over.”

Trivia[]
- The name of the episode is the opposite of "Wax on, wax off".
- Robby has defeated Kwon in the tag team elimination match, meaning Miyagi-Do has advanced to the Tournament of Champions and Cobra Kai is now eliminated from the Sekai Taikai.
- Co-creator Hayden Schlossberg makes his acting debut as Silver's lawyer.
- Given that Demetri says he finds it suspicious on how Kenny forgave Devon because of what she did, it can be argued that Miyagi-Do is now aware of the fact that Devon was the one who caused Kenny's incident, which occurred in Underdogs.
- Demetri tells Sam that she is the 'only captain' who doesn't have a soft spot for Kenny; this is an indirect reference to the fact that Robby (the male captain) was Kenny's mentor and friend in Season 4, and the former spent most of Season 5 trying to get the latter to leave Silver's Cobra Kai because he wanted to protect Kenny and not want him to get hurt or do something he'll regret.
- In the locker room scene, inspiration is drawn from the 2006 film Gridiron Gang. The Mustangs are shown motivating each other, while Coach Sean Porter and his assistant Malcolm Moore listen from behind the door. Similarly, in this episode, the Miyagi-Do team motivates each other as Daniel and Johnny quietly listen from behind the door.
- It is revealed that Mr. Miyagi killed his opponent from when he competed in the Sekai Taikai.
- Axel glares at Miguel after he sees the latter hold Sam's hand and rub her shoulder in an affectionate and reassuring way; this foreshadows their rivalry when Axel bumps into Miguel on purpose in this episode and fights him during most of the all-dojo brawl in Eunjangdo.
- Daniel references when he defeated Kreese (and Johnny) in the All Valley in "The Karate Kid".
- Robby bringing down Kwon and grabbing his hair is a callback to "The Karate Kid Part II" where Mr. Miyagi brought down Kreese in a similar fashion. It is also the same move Daniel did on Chozen.
- This is the only episode from the second part of season 6 that Amanda does not appear in.
