He is portrayed by William Christopher Ford.
Biography[]
The Karate Kid Part III[]
Dennis is first seen being called down by Terry Silver along with Snake, after Mike Barnes arrives at his home. Dennis is then assigned by Terry Silver to take care of Mike's training. One night Dennis, along with Snake and Mike, enter Mr. Miyagi's Little Trees in an attempt to force Daniel LaRusso to sign the application, which Daniel refuses to do as he has no reason to fight. After Mike tells Dennis that Daniel did not sign the application, Dennis begins trashing up the shop. Dennis then fights with Daniel but is easily beaten by him. When Mr. Miyagi arrives, the three of them flee into the car.
Later, Dennis and the gang follow Daniel and Jessica to a cliff where they are planning to sell a new valuable bonsai tree. When Daniel and Jessica retrieve the tree, Dennis helps Mike and Snake retract their climbing ropes and force Daniel to sign the application. Against his will, Daniel signs it, but then demands Dennis, Snake, and Mike to pull them up, which they do, but not before Mike breaks the bonsai tree.
Dennis is later seen training at the Cobra Kai Dojo right before the upcoming tournament and is seen in a sparring match against Mike, in which he loses.
Cobra Kai[]
Season 6[]
Part 2[]
He re-emerged in the final season; he was recruited by Silver for his plans. However, he's shown to have some knowledge of Karate, even using techniques from Okinawan style of Shorin-Ryu, and helped Silver and Sensei Wolf orchestrate Daniel's kidnapping.
In their first fight, Daniel had to resort to using almost every signature technique he learned from the Miyagi-Verse, including a jumping kick resembling the crane kick, the wheel technique, the aggressive techniques from Chozen that also included pressure points and the throw he used against Mike Barnes.
When Chozen and Kim Da-Eun runs into Dennis at a cafe, they follow him to a hotel. Daniel and John Kreese joins the two and they find Dennis meeting with Wolf inside a spa where the pair of Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai sensei's discovers Dennis and Wolf's affiliation with Silver.
During the Sekai Taikai all-dojo brawl, he attacks Daniel again, but this time is quickly defeated by him, proving him to be an annoyance rather than a formidable fighter.
Part 3[]
When the Sekai Taikai resumes in the All-Valley and ends in a tie between Cobra Kai and Iron Dragons, leading to a tie-breaking match between senseis Wolf and Johnny Lawrence, Silver instructs Dennis to kidnap Johnny's wife Carmen and their newborn daughter Laura to throw Johnny off-balance, Dennis asks him if he is sure he wants him to do that, Silver assures him that and also says if he does carry out his order then the yacht is his. However, Dennis is knocked out by Kreese (possibly killing him as well) to stop him from going after Johnny. He is gone for good when Kreese blows up the yacht they're on, which includes Silver and Kreese himself.
Trivia[]
- Dennis rarely speaks; he only has two lines throughout the entire duration of The Karate Kid Part III. This is repeated in Cobra Kai, as in the few episodes he’s been in, he’s hardly said two words if that.
- Most of Dennis' lines are in Strike Last just before his death when he expresses hesitation about kidnapping Johnny Lawrence's family.
- Dennis' surname wasn't known in The Karate Kid Part III, until it is officially revealed in Season 6 Part 2 of Cobra Kai.
- As revealed in Strike Last, Dennis is the one who burned down Mike Barnes' furniture store on Silver's orders.
- Dennis' return is foreshadowed at the end of Season 4 when Silver explains that he will recruit old friends to help out Cobra Kai.
- Dennis' actor is real life Okinawan Shorin-Ryu Karate Sensei William Christopher Ford. He and Darryl Vidal (the actor playing the character of the same name) knew each other even before the trilogy as they competed in the same tournament circuits. Sensei Ford is also known for his online 52 Masters series where he trains and interviews with different Martial Arts masters, including fellow Karate Kid alumni such as Sensei Vidal (Kenpo Karate), Ron Thomas (Japanese Jujutsu) who played Bobby and Fumio Demura Sensei (Okinawan Shito-Ryu) who worked on the choreography and training of the first four films and doubled Pat Morita in some fight scenes.
- Series fight coordinator Don Lee also practiced Shorin-Ryu, and they collaborated in incorporating elements of the style in Dennis' fight with Daniel, particularly the opening techniques he shows off to him to show his knowledge of Karate.
