Season 6[]

After John Kreese leaves the United States and arrives to Korea, Sensei Kim introduces him to her students, one of them being Min-Seok, and they begin to learn his philosophy. Kreese also influences Kwon Jae-Sung, so Min-Seok is attacked by him, along with Yoon and Chung-Hee, because of some tension between them caused by Kreese's manipulation. They loose the fight, letting Kwon be recognized as the best student. With Kwon leading the team now, and them all training under Kreese's influence, Min-Seok would eventually become one of the fighters for the Korean team that would participate in the Sekai Taikai tournament, as well as one of the members of Cobra Kai from that time.

After arriving to Barcelona, he shows up in the Sekai Taikai alongside his teammates from the dojang, the new Cobra Kai representing Korea on the tournament. He is present in various events, mostly the ones his partners are involved in, including off the mat conflicts like when Kwon approaches the Miyagi-Do team after the presentation, or while gambling between Kwon and Robby on a kicking competition. After that, they fight in the first match called "Captain's War" against another three dojos in the Group A. These dojos are Miyagi-Do, Iron Dragons, and Falchi della Notte. When their female captain Tory Nichols decides to attack the Miyagi-Do first, the other cobras have no other option but to follow her, confronting them for the first time in the tournament. Min-Seok first goes against Eli, distracting him from protecting their captains, but then he gets eliminated by Miguel, who sweeps his leg after a block, sending him to the floor.

As the tournament continues, Cobra Kai keeps going through the elimination rounds. One night, when the dojos students decide to hang out in the city, Kwon and Yoon confront the Miyagi-Do's female captain Samantha LaRusso and the Iron Dragons male captain Axel Kovacevic. When this happens, Min-Seok appears to help his friends, but gets kicked in the stomach by Sam and the fight ends when a siren announces the police arrival before they all run. After a loss in an elimination round against Tiger Strike, the stakes for Cobra Kai are higher since their next match will determine if they stay in the Sekai Taikai or they get eliminated, and this match is against no other than to the Miyagi-Do team. During the match, Kwon tags Min-Seok in so he joins to fight Miguel and, by a spinning kick, Min-Seok loses against him again before tagging Yoon in. The match ends up in a loss for Cobra Kai, making them be eliminated from the tournament.

However, after four of the Tiger Strike students tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs, the Russian team is disqualified and Cobra Kai gets back in since they are the highest ranked dojo from the elimination list. Thus, Kwon and Tory get back to training for the semifinals, helped by Yoon and Min-Seok, and coached by Sensei Kreese and Sensei Kim. Min-Seok also fights during the Sekai Taikai All-Dojo Brawl until Kwon's scream stops the fight.

Returning to Korea, Min-Seok attends Kwon's funeral. During class, Kim Sun-Yung forces Min-Seok and his classmates to get injured by a reluctant Yoon who uses the Forbidden technique.

It is unknown what was Min-Seok destiny after the korean team not participating in the finals of the Sekai Taikai and Kim Da-Eun resuming their training, weather if he continued with them along with Chung-Hee, or if he left like Kreese apparently told Yoon to do.

Fighting Style[]

Just like his partners in Master Kim's dojang, Min-Seok has a foundation in The Way of the Fist fighting style, originated by Kim Sun-Yung as a variation of the korean martial art Tang Soo Do. This style was later perpetuated by his granddaughter Kim Da-Eun, from whom students like Min-Seok would have learned. He would later learn from John Kreese's teachings of "No Mercy" and "being heartless" before the Sekai Taikai.

He seems to be a very strong and powerful martial artist, embracing the aggressiveness of his dojang's style of fighting.

However, he lost to a fight with Miguel Diaz. During the captain's war challenge.

Trivia:[]

  • The spelling of Min-Seok's name in Cobra Kai is widely regarded as incorrect, as the name should be spelled, "Min-seok". In today's romanizations of Korean names, which are used by the United Nations, the Black Belt Magazine and other media, given names that consist of two syllables are spelled without capitalizing the first letter of the second syllable.
    • Despite this, The Karate Kid Fandom documents the franchise as it is seen and credited within the fictional franchise, not by what is considered factually accurate in the real world.
  • Since his name is Min-Seok, he could be some relative of Min-Jun, one of the senseis from Kim Sun-Yung's dojang, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
